Woodpile Workouts are just that -- a workout. WaterFire staff and volunteers prepare for upcoming events by loading wood into boats, then heading out on the river to store that wood in convenient places to be used during events. Volunteer: Book Sale Volunteers

BOOK SALE Volunteer

These ongoing, time-limited, or one-time volunteer opportunities support BOOK SALE operations. Duties vary and include setting up (putting signage and hanging banners outside, setting up inside tables, setting up tents and tables outside when weather permits and picking up litter), sorting and inventorying donations, shelving, merchandizing, dusting shelves, assisting customers, cashiering, closing down tasks and other related duties.
The times are specific for this position. They are:

1) TUESDAYS and THURSDAYS from 10:00 - 1:00. Volunteers work as a team to sort book donations into identified genres for storage, shelving, or recycling. The duties described above may also be required.

2) FIRST SATURDAYS of the month from 11:00 - 5:00. Our greatest needs are from 11 to 1:30 and from 3:30 to 5:00 when volunteers help prepare for our monthly book sales and pack up books at the end of the day. During the actual sale (12 - 4:00), volunteers help customers find books, help pack books, carry them to customers' cars, and keep tables and shelves looking tidy. Our alphabetized fiction book shelves and our children's section often need attention.

3) On FRIDAYS before the monthly book sales (see #2 above) volunteers help set up book displays from 1:00 to 5:00. This requires enough strength to lift boxes of books from floor to tables. An eye for creating attractive displays helps a lot. There's always lots of tidying up in our children's section for someone who knows and loves children's books.

These positions require organizational, communication, and people skills. A sense for details and a team spirit are needed. Spanish fluency would be helpful but is not a requirement. You'll work under a supervisor.
